Team Causeway Raises £137k for Charity

Following a month long cycle slam, Team Causeway has so far raised £58,400 for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation.

Comprising Peter Nagle (Chairman), Phil Brown (CEO) and Paul Madeira (COO Middle East), Team Causeway participated in three of the five stages and cycled over 1500 km throughout Europe to raise money for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation (dividing funds between Cancer Research, DebRA, Help for Heroes, PRA Benevolent Fund and Leukaemia Research).

Causeway supported the event with £50k sponsorship and a further £20k was contributed by our fellow cyclists Rob Smith, Graham Dodridge (Silver Worldwide), and Ray O’Donoghue (Barclays).  Our target of £100k was surpassed easily with £67k raised from friends, family, customers and business partners of the Team Causeway Cyclists.

Contributions were received throughout the month long cycle challenge as the team members struggled with the first snow in Rome for over 30 years, mountains, wind, rain and Biggin Hill to support Lawrence Dallaglio as he cycled over 2800 km around the 6 nations stadia from Rome to Murrayfield.

Phil Brown, CEO states “It was the most challenging, and yet most fulfilling, event I have ever completed.  The weather made it even more difficult in uneven terrain, with snow and rain hindering our progress in certain stages.  The camaraderie was fantastic throughout and riding alongside some of the faces of international sport really motivated us to keep pedalling despite the knee and back aches.  We set out to raise £50,000 for the various charities and we are delighted that we have achieved more than our target.  We could not have done this without the support of our family and friends, colleagues and business contacts.  On behalf of Team Causeway, I thank you all for your generosity and continued support throughout”.

The Cycle Slam included some of the famous faces from sport and media including Freddie Flintoff, Lee Dixon, Les Ferdinand, and Kenny Logan… even Prince Harry met the cyclists at Twickenham at the end of Stage 3 to support the team.

It’s  “not over ‘til it’s over” so if you want to dig deep and help Lawrence achieve his £1million target, please donate at www.causeway.com/cycleslam.
